Reduced levels of blood sugar, cholesterol and triglycerides

Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases are serious chronic diseases that many Western societies are facing today.

The daily consumption of Chlorella can provide certain health benefits such as lowering triglycerides and blood cholesterol in hypercholesterolemic subjects, according to Ryu et al., (2014). The effect seems to be related, as demonstrated by the human clinical trial with carotenoid consumption.

In another study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food in 2008, researchers found that chlorella helps reduce cholesterol and blood glucose levels (Mizoguchi et al., 2008). First they observed a decrease in cholesterol levels, then the improvement of blood glucose. According to their results, the alga Chlorella activates a number of genes at the cellular level that improve insulin sensitivity in promoting a healthy balance.
